Life

Pepper grew up in a Catholic banking family in Minden and received piano lessons from 1964. From 1972 he appeared as a keyboard player in local bands at festivals. After he abandoned his faith as a youth, he found his way back into the Jesus People movement and was baptized in 1975 as part of a believer's baptism by the Evangelical Free Church in Minden . During this time he began to write pieces in the field of Christian music . From 1977 he studied music and theology at free church training centers in Wolfenbüttel and in Dallas , Texas . During this time Pepper was a pianist and singer in Christian bands and choirs. In 1979 he recorded his first LP "Feel the Touch" in Dallas. In 1980 Martin Pepper did an internship at the Christian Center Berlin ( Kirche am Südstern ) and was ordained in 1981 as a pastor of the Association of Free Church Pentecostal Congregations . In addition, he was active on the board of the then Free Church Evangelical Community , (now) a full member of the Association of Evangelical Free Churches . In 2019 he declared that he had now joined the Protestant regional church .

In addition to his pastoral work, from which he has been released in favor of music since 2000, he was also musically active. He was keyboard player, songwriter and singer of the Christian pop-rock formation "JC Seven", with whom he performed in Berlin and some cities in Germany. Further CDs followed, such as “Wind des Lebens” (live recording 1995), “Tailwind” (1996), “Side by Side” (1997), “Fire in the Night” (1998). In 2000 he worked with Philip Janz, producer of Brian Doerksen in Canada, on the production of the CDs “Face in the Light” and “Songs” and in the same year founded his own music publisher mc-peppersongs .

Since that time he has performed in German-speaking countries with concerts, church services and as a speaker for the design of music contributions in church services under the heading of “worship and praise”. With his albums "Fiesta" and "Siesta", Pepper brings Latin American musical influences, which he collected on his travels through Peru, Mexico and Cuba, to the Christian music scene. Since 2014 he has also appeared as a speaker for men's issues with the texts of his book accompanying the CD “Mut zum Sein” “Männereinsichten”. In 2014 he published his first volume of poetry, “The Melancholy of Possibility”. In 2015 the German-speaking Mennonites invited him to a concert tour and a lecture tour to Paraguay.
