The water carriers were a choir of the youth choir movement in the German Christian music scene from Ebhausen .
The choir emerged from the work of the YMCA in the northern Black Forest, where it was founded in 1970 by Heiner Zahn. Zahn directed the choir until 1993. Under his direction, the choir released eight albums. The Wasserträger toured with over 50 concerts a year both nationwide and internationally and brought successful solo careers like Andreas Volz and Martin Mast out of his fellow singers .
With the decline in the youth choir movement, the choir was disbanded in the early 2000s.
