Klaus Heizmann
Klaus-Helmut Heizmann (born May 16, 1944 in Haan ) is a German composer of Christian pop music , musician and conductor of various choirs .
Life
Heizmann received his first piano lessons at pre-school age from the artistically active student councilor Volk. She later financed his piano and organ lessons and enabled him, against initial reservations in his family, to study music. Heizmann studied at the Evangelical State Church Music School in Düsseldorf, today: Robert Schumann University , and then, on the advice of the then head of the Youth for Christ Mission , Werner Bürklin, completed an additional year of study in Fort Wayne, Indiana in the USA . When he returned to Germany in 1966, Heizmann became the first full-time musician in Jugend für Christus . In 1968 he was appointed director of the Youth for Christ Choir . Established for a decade, the choir developed under the new direction into the first progressive youth choir on the Christian music scene in Germany. The new sacred songs in arrangements inspired by popular music made a significant contribution to the comparatively late development of modern sacred music in Germany at the end of the 1960s. In particular, by publishing sheet music, Heizmann achieved an active participation of Christian youth, who were thus able to bring the new music to everyday life in the community. From this, the phenomenon of the youth choir movement developed in the following decades until the early 1990s .
In 1971 Heizmann married the singer , who later became a songwriter and children's music producer, Hella Heizmann . There followed busy years with many record productions, concerts, and later even training courses and seminars as well as children's singing camps. International projects have also been implemented. In the same year, the two set off on a tour to South Africa with the Youth for Christ Teen Team . Furthermore, Heizmann was elected for Billy Graham's first Europe-wide large evangelization Euro '70 as the choirmaster of the 1500 voices strong Euro Choir .
In 1976, Klaus Heizmann left the youth for Christ missionary work , thereby relinquishing the leadership of the Youth for Christ Choir . In the following years he worked as a music editor at the Hänssler publishing house and established Die Brückenbauer as the new youth choir on the scene.
In 1981, Heizmann founded the Musisches Bildungszentrum (MBZ) in Sankt Goar as an educational institution, the purpose of which was to promote young talent and to professionally support artistic work in churches and parishes through further training opportunities. With a staff of around 40 speakers, the training center offered individual training courses in music, painting, design and performing arts as well as children's singing camps, conducting courses, instrumental seminars, courses in pantomime and harmony. The MBZ accommodated countless guests, from experienced musicians and singers for seminars and studio choir recordings to children who are enthusiastic about singing for children's singing camps and musical projects. At the end of the 1980s, the MBZ closed its work after the main sponsor WERSI was no longer able to support the plant financially. What remained from the work was the House of Music , which continued Heizmann's work in a significantly reduced form.
In 1993 the marriage of Klaus and Hella Heizmann was divorced. Her two daughters, Melanie and Viola, became known in the Christian music scene at a young age as soloists in their mother's children's choir and later in their father's projects and not least in the trio Hella, Melanie and Viola Heizmann .
In 1994 Heizmann opened the Haus der Musik in Wiesbaden after giving up the St. Goar location . Today it supports his artistic work as a publisher and educational institution and is the organizational home of the Wiesbaden studio choir , the women's ensemble Farbenfroh and the children's choir Die Mini-Maxis .
In 1999 he started his international freelance career with the Schott Music publishing house in Mainz, which continues to this day. There he published music and specialist books from his pen, which were translated into English, French, Spanish, Czech and Chinese. In 2003 he received the German Music Edition Award for his book So speak properly .
He received other prizes for his children's musicals - for example, in 2012 he won first place in the competition for the state-wide choir meeting from the regional association of Protestant church choirs in Baden. So far he has written 14 musicals for children, making him one of the most played composers of children's musicals in German-speaking countries. In 2002 the first performance of the musical Brunello's Christmas , which was created in collaboration with copywriters Dagmar Heizmann-Leucke and Richard Sigmund , took place in the City Theater of Merano .
From 1994 Heizmann was married to Dagmar Heizmann-Leucke, who died in January 2020. You have three children. He lives in Wiesbaden.
plant
As a music editor and producer at Hänssler Verlag , conductor of various choirs and pioneer of modern sacred music in Germany, Heizmann composed over 1000 songs as well as over 500 children's songs, all of which were published in over 120 music editions and on over 350 sound carriers. His work includes mostly compositions of the New Spiritual Song, but also full-length oratorios , cantatas and musicals . Together with his wife Dagmar Heizmann-Leucke, musicals and cantatas for children were also created.
He is also the editor of numerous specialist music books. In 2003, he received the German Music Edition Award for his work So speak correctly .
