Edward Gauntt
Edward "Eddie" Gauntt (* 1955 in Clifton , Texas ) is an American opera singer (baritone).
Life
At Baylor University in Waco , Texas , he completed his singing and music teaching degree. He has been married to the Christian pop singer Cae Gauntt since 1978 and has two sons.
In 1978 he moved to Vienna with his wife , as he received a scholarship as a classical baritone at the Vienna State Opera . When Gauntt got an engagement at the Operntheater Krefeld (today Theater Krefeld und Mönchengladbach ) in 1983 , he moved to Germany. Since 1985 he has had an engagement at the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and lives in Graben-Neudorf .
In addition to his operatic career, Eddie Gauntt appears with his wife as the duo Cae & Eddie Gauntt . Discovered by Klaus Heizmann, both appeared on several Christian concept albums by producers such as Johannes Nitsch and Jochen Rieger . He also performed live with the sons of Mannheim and 4 Your Soul .
On June 29, 2008 Eddie Gauntt sang the German national anthem in Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium before the final of the 2008 European Football Championship .
Awards
Gauntt was awarded the 4th special prize in the Hugo Wolf competition. In 2006 he received the title of chamber singer .
