Don & Susie Newby
Don & Susie Newby is an American singing duo of Christian folk pop rock music.
history
The American couple met while studying at the Christian Toccoa Falls College in Georgia . After both graduating with degrees in singing and church music and biblical studies, Don then graduated from Georgia State University with a master's degree in music theory. In 1981 the couple moved to Germany , where they initially joined the German Christian music scene as a background singer for Hella Heizmann . With her they toured nationwide and recorded their sixth studio album Regenbogenzeit , which was released in 1983. This was followed by the emancipation to become an independent music group and in 1989 the debut album Stepping Through The Changes , published by Hänssler Music . From the soft pop of their first production, the duo developed in the direction of earthier timbres over the next few years and presented the follow-up album Found Free , published in 1994 by the same label, stylistically somewhere between southern country and folk rock . Engagements for choir and Christmas concept projects of influential Christian music producers such as Klaus Heizmann and Gerhard Schnitter followed . In 1998 he produced the CD of the Promise Keepers Von Mann zu Mann with the musicians Ingo Beckmann, Helmut Jost , Lothar Kosse , Bernd-Martin Müller , Hans-Werner Scharnowski , Michael Schlierf . In 2000 Diamond appeared under the label Felsenfest , although stylistically updated, still oriented towards country .
Don and Susie Newby now live in Rottweil in the Black Forest. They give concerts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In addition, Don worked as a music producer for the Promise Keepers movement , teaches music at the BibelStudienKolleg in Ostfildern , leads workshops on topics such as acoustic guitar, music in worship , choir conducting, vocal coaching and arranging and runs a digital recording studio.
