The Bibelstudienkolleg e. V. (stylized spelling: BibelStudienKolleg ; abbreviated: BSK ; formerly Bibelseminar Königsfeld , former biblical school Bergstrasse ) is a non-profit association that maintains a theological training center with an evangelical orientation based on the German Evangelical Alliance in Ostfildern .
history
The history of the Bible Study College goes back to the American military pastor Robert Evans, who founded the Greater Europe Mission after the Second World War - due to the spiritual emergency he perceived in Europe - which focuses in particular on the training of evangelists , preachers , missionaries and clergy Obligated teachers. In 1955 the Mission initiated the establishment of a German-European Bible School, officially named Biblical School Bergstrasse from 1958 . In 1990 the training center left its Seeheim-Jugenheim location and moved to Königsfeld in the Black Forest . At the same time the name was changed to Bibelseminar Königsfeld . In 2009 we moved into the current building in the Scharnhauser Park district in Ostfildern and is now called the BibelStudienKolleg . Rolf Sons was Chairman from 2017 and was replaced by Bernhard Knieß in 2020. Dietrich Mang is the successor to Albrecht Wandel as head of the BSK and will take up his new office on July 1, 2020.
From the work of the seminar, the Free Theological Academy (FTA) in Gießen and the Bible Distance Learning (BFU) emerged. It is a member of the Evangelical Missions Working Group , netzwerk-m and the conference of Bible-based training centers .
Study program
The BSK offers basic and advanced training opportunities in the form of full-time instruction as well as extra-occupational courses for full-time and voluntary service in the community. The aim of the training center, according to its own statements, is initially to offer individual people assistance in a reflective life in the Christian faith and to further train them for part-time and full-time work in the service of the churches and congregations, such as mission and diakonia. In addition, it offers a dual training course in cooperation with some mission organizations (Sahel Life, OMF , DIPM ) .
