Ruedi Sommerhalder

Ruedi Sommerhalder (* 1947 in Wettingen ) is a Swiss artist.

Life

Sommerhalder grew up in the monastery district of Wettingen . In the recruit school he was trained as a military diver, where he got to know and love Switzerland's moated castle , which continues to inspire him to this day. After the Wettingen teachers' seminar , he attended the Basel School of Applied Arts and graduated with a diploma for higher education in fine arts. He has lived in Untersiggenthal since the late 1970s , where he has had his studio in the Stroppel area since 1995. He worked as an artisan and canton school teacher in Wettingen . He is now retired and takes boat tours on the Reuss and Aare rivers . Ruedi Sommerhalder is married and has grown children with his wife Tonia.

Ruedi Sommerhalder works with wood, steel, stones and other materials, but is also committed to other artists. He was one of the initiators of the Limmat Culture Trail , which opened in 1991 and stretches from the wooden bridge between Wettingen and Neuenhof to the wooden bridge in Baden .
