David Thomas (musician)

David Thomas (* in Manchester ) is a British musician .

Life

His family is from the Caribbean . The son of a pastor studied music at the Arden School of Theater (Arden College). From childhood he was a singer, keyboard player and drummer. Because of his singing talent, he was promoted. He was a member of the Merrybell Gospel Choir for eight years. There he belonged to the regular cast due to his expressive voice and his understanding of music. During this time he attended college for pop music and sound recording in England for two years. In 1990 he came to Germany to go on vacation. He signed a record deal there and began a solo career with gospel music.

He gave individual concerts, at the beginning of his career mainly with bands from Hamburg. This was followed by an engagement at the Buddy Holly Musical in Hamburg. From 1995 David was seen as "Papa Steam Locomotive" at the Starlight Express in Bochum. This was followed by an engagement at the Tabaluga Musical in Oberhausen. He also performed with Jessi Dixon and Stevie Wonder .

Thomas composed about 30 pieces for choirs. As a soloist, in a trio or with gospel choirs, David Thomas performed and worked on gospel concepts for Christian music producers such as Jochen Rieger , Hanjo Gäbler and Helmut Jost . David Thomas is also one of the speakers and artists from the Gospel Church Day or the Westphalian Pop and Gospel Choir Festival PoGo. In 2005 he presented his solo album Victory . In 2010 his solo album The Message is Love came out.
