Youth for Christ (JFC) is the Mühltal- based German member of Youth for Christ International (YFCI), an international evangelical organization for youth evangelism and biblical Christianity.

Youth for Christ International (YFC)

The umbrella organization Youth for Christ International is active in over 100 countries with around 4,000 full-time and 30,000 volunteer employees.

In the early 1940s during World War II , many young men, particularly deacons and ministers, held major evangelistic events in Canada , the United Kingdom, and the United States . To bundle these events, Youth for Christ was founded in 1944. The founders were Pastor Billy Graham and the then evangelistic preacher Charles Templeton . Graham became YFC's first full-time employee. YFC's first president was Torrey Maynard Johnson of Chicago.

Other organizations such as World Vision Inc. , Gospel Films and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association emerged from and with the help of the YFC .

YFC follows the motto "Interlocked with the times, anchored in the rock" to help young people to serve one another. Over the years, YFC has employed a variety of methods including youth rallies, Bible clubs, Bible quizzes, teen-to-teen missions, and college and city projects.

From 1978 to 2012 YFC hosted the Flevo Festival , an annual Christian music festival that most recently attracted 10,000 visitors.

Youth for Christ Germany (JFC)

The overall work in Germany has existed since 1948 and is coordinated in a separate head office, which has been in Trautheim since 1973 . Media work and fundraising are part of the work.

The work in Germany focuses on training (mission and practical seminar, youth leader training), school work mainly in cooperation with iThemba from Southafrica Youth for Christ , road work with the “Lifeliner” truck (since 2012, from 1974 to 2008 with “Tee -Mobil ”buses, called“ The Buzz ”from 2008 to 2012), material creation for teenage and youth work ( Rock Solid and Brixx ), as well as the Jugend-für-Christus-Verlag.

In 1958, music producer and choir director Johannes Haas founded the youth-for-Christ choir together with the mission organization Jugend für Christus and the Christian music label Frohe Message im Lied , which was part of the German Christian music scene until the 1980s and was largely under the subsequent direction of Klaus Heizmann shaped the youth choir movement of the same.

For many years, the work of JFC was shaped by Martin Homann , who worked as an evangelist for the organization from 1960 . From 1972 to 1983 he headed the plant and was then a member of the board of directors until 2003 and also its chairman from 1983 to 1999. In addition, Homann laid the foundation stone for JFC work in Hungary. He died on March 23, 2016.
