Bookmark had a weekly books magazine from Bayerischer Rundfunk Monday evening produced and each at 23.40 in the Bavarian television aired. The first broadcast ran in 1972. On December 22, 2015, the literary magazine was broadcast for the last time.

Topics and structure of the program

In contributions, portraits and interviews people and topics from all areas of literature were dealt with. Reading Signs was probably the only television show that was moderated by its own viewers: The magazine was made up of brief surveys that led to the respective topics. In addition, the people interviewed on the street presented books they were reading. In addition to these book tips, another integral part of every program was an interview with authors, alternately conducted by Julia Benkert and Armin Kratzert , who was editor of the magazine.

Suspension of the broadcast

In the summer of 2015 it became known that the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation was planning to remove the literary magazine from its program on January 1, 2016 as part of a program reform. Because of this, resistance quickly spread on the Internet. An online petition for the receipt of the program was also started, as it was suspected that the literary reporting on Bavarian television could be completely eliminated by the discontinuation of the program KleinesZeichen . Despite the protests, the broadcasting reading characters was stopped at the turn of 2015/16.
