Reading room west
The Reading Room West (Læsesal Vest) is the research reading room of the Danish Royal Library ( Danish : Det Kongelige Bibliotek ) and thus part of the National Library of Denmark . The reading room is located in the new library extension Den Sorte Diamant ("the black diamond") at Slotsholmen in Copenhagen . It goes back to the founding of the Royal Library by Friedrich III. and has changed his address several times.
The objectives of the reading room:
- To enable studies of reading room claused material
- To provide a large reference collection
- To give the opportunity for a permanent research position
Target group:
- University of Copenhagen
- Researchers from home and abroad
- Others who are looking for knowledge at a higher level
The reference collection of the reading room is spread over two floors. The collection consists of 65,000 volumes and it comprises several subject areas of the Royal Library with a focus on the humanities and theology .
