Leslie (Toronto Subway)
Leslie is an underground subway station in Toronto . It lies on the Sheppard line of the Toronto Subway , at the intersection of Sheppard Avenue and Leslie Street. The station has a central platform and is used by an average of 6,600 passengers every day (2015). It is one of the least frequented of the entire subway network, which is due to the low density of buildings in the area.
There are transfer options to three bus routes, and there is also a park-and-ride with 102 chargeable parking spaces for commuters . A shuttle bus connects you to a nearby IKEA branch. Immediately to the east of the station, the line crosses the Don River on a completely enclosed bridge of 60 meters in length. Oriole Station is just over half a kilometer south on GO Transit's Richmond Hill Line . Plans to better link the two forms of rail transport are currently not being pursued.
The station opened on November 24, 2002, along with the entire Sheppard Line between Sheppard-Yonge and Don Mills . Micah Lexier was responsible for the artistic design. He made thousands of tiles on what the screen-printed above and below a standardized ampersand respectively, the words "Sheppard" and "Leslie" are displayed - in 3440 various manuscripts collected the artist living near people.
