Lestall

Lestall (also Lästall ) was a measure of area on the island of Sylt . The measure was taken for meadow land, other areas of agriculture (arable land) were calculated according to the Ammersaat . Lestall was also the basis of the land tax. Lestall is derived from Läs-Tal, the number of fuder. The measure was used as early as 1777.

From 1803 the size was changed. The reason was the loss of meadow land mainly due to the North Sea .
