Diemat

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Diemat (also Diemath, Demat, Demath, Dagmet, Diemt, Dimt) is a former in the German marshes of Holstein to East Friesland in use square measure and corresponds to about 5700 square meters. The word derives from the term “ day work ” and referred to the area that a good worker could mow with a scythe in one day. The Diemat has been used to this day in field names such as "Forty Diemat" (an area in the north of the city ), "Sestein Dimt" (= "16 Diemat", a street in Hage ) or in the "Diematsweg" (a street in Großefehn ) and "Thirty-Diemat-Weg" (a street in the Jümme municipality in Stallbrüggerfeld).

In Norderstapel , the ratio was given as 335 Demat = 182 ha, so it was slightly larger than half a hectare there. Further definitions indicate different dimensions between approx. 4500 m² and 10000 m².

According to the law of August 19, 1836 (Articles 19, 20 and 24), the previous dimensions were confirmed and retained.

  • 1 Diemat = 56.73833 Ar (Kammer-Diemat in 1813)
  • 3 diemat = 4 grass (1 grass = 42.55375 ares ( Aurich )) (NB: 1 grass = 36.83 ares ( Emden ))
  • 1 Diemat = 25 days' work (in buckwheat cultivation , Aurich measure)
  • 1 Moor Diemat = 99.73535 ares
  • 512 Moor Diemat = 900 Diemat
