Candlestick (heraldry)

The candlestick , also as a candelabra , candelabra, candle holder and the like. designates, in which Heraldry a rare crest figure and is in crest represented differently. It can be briefly understood as a stand for candles. The shape ranges from a columnar to multi-armed candlestick like the menorah . A well-known type is the seven-armed candlestick in the coat of arms of Israel . Gold and silver are preferred as heraldic tinging . The “one-armed” candlesticks are sometimes shown up to three in a 2: 1 position in the coat of arms. Other figures can be in the coat of arms or in the field . If a candlestick is held by one hand , this must be mentioned in the description of the coat of arms . It is also a characteristic whether there are candles in the candlestick and whether they are burning.
