The West Quay Lighthouse is a beacon on West Quay in the Scottish city of Port Glasgow in Inverclyde . In 1990 the building was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in Category B.

description

The beacon is at the end of the West Quay wharf. While Historic Scotland gives a construction time in the 1860s, in other sources also a construction in the 1870s is recorded. It consists of a slightly tapered, approximately twelve-meter-high, cast-iron cylinder that is fixed to a stone foundation with strong bolts. On it sits a lantern with a balcony that closes with a dome. The cast iron entrance door on the north side is decorated with a cornice . The tower, which was painted in a checkered pattern in black and white, is still in its original state today. A little upriver is the lower Perch Light , which is made in a similar way.
