Leuke (island)

Leuke ( ancient Greek Λεύκη ) is an island in Greek mythology . It is said to be at the mouth of the Danube, i.e. in the Black Sea .

Achilles was transferred to Leuke after his death in order to rule over this island. According to Homer , this island was forested and full of animals, both wild and tame. There the spirits of Achilles and Helena are supposed to celebrate high festivals all the time.
