The Levantine Arabic (also called "Levantine Arabic" or "Levantine" for short) is that in the Levant , i. H. Arabic colloquial language spoken in the countries of the eastern Mediterranean coast and their hinterland .

In addition to the division into North and South Levantine, a distinction is made between the following regional dialects , corresponding to today's states of Syria , Lebanon , Jordan and the Palestinian autonomous regions :

The population of Arab origin in the Turkish province of Hatay speaks a northern Levantine dialect. Also the Cypriot Arabic is counted by some linguists to Levantine Arabic.
