Lev Felixowitsch Lagorio
Lev Felixowitsch Lagorio ( Russian Лев Феликсович Лагорио ; born June 16, 1828 in Feodosiya , † November 17, 1905 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian painter .
Life
Lagorio was born in Feodosia and studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Art . His teachers were Maxim Vorobjow and BP Villeval'de. At the beginning he was particularly influenced by Ivan Aivazovsky and his seascape paintings. In 1845 Lagorio went on board the warship Grozjashchi to study the structure of the ship more closely. He later went to Italy for eight years . The pictures that were taken there earned him the status of professor when he returned to Russia. In later years he mainly painted the coasts of Finland and Norway as well as motifs from the Russo-Turkish War.
Lagorio's works can be viewed in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow .
