Lewistown, Ohio

Lewistown is a location in Logan County , Ohio , United States . In the United States Census 2000 , the parish had 693 residents.

The Shawnee area was populated until the 1820s . The first white settlers moved to Lewistown in the summer of 1832. Henry Hanford, after whom “Hanford Street” in Lewistown is named, opened the first general store (“general store”) and was also the first postal administrator of the place. Rent horses that served the route between Bellefontaine and Anna Station (“hack line”) in the mid-19th century stopped in Lewistown.
