Libor Štefánik

Libor Štefánik (born July 21, 1964 in Prostějov ) is a Czech brigadier general and since June 2013 the commander of the Air Force of the Czech Republic ( Czech Vzdušné síly Armády České republiky ).

Life

Libor Štefánik trained as an aircraft mechanic and later a pilot at the Czechoslovak Military Academy in Košice from 1984 to 1987 . From 1987 to 2000 he flew with the MiG-21 in a reconnaissance group and a fighter-bomber squadron, where he assumed various management positions. From 2000 to 2003 he worked at Allied Air Command Ramstein (at that time referred to as Allied Air Forces North ), from 2004 to 2006 at the headquarters of the Czech Armed Forces, where he was deputy head of department responsible for the operational readiness of the Czech Air Forces .

In 2006 and 2007 he attended the Air War College of the United States Air Force in Maxwell , Alabama . On 30 May 2007, he assumed command of the 22nd Air Force Base in Vícenice u Nameste nad Oslavou near Brno . On February 15, 2013, Štefánik became Deputy Chief of the Air Force and on June 1, he took command of the Air Force. On October 28, 2013, he was promoted to brigadier general.

Private

Libor Štefánik is married and has two children.
