Library of Anglo-American Culture & History

The Library of Anglo-American Culture & History (Library AAC) supplements the offerings of local libraries with supra-regional services in the areas of literature acquisition, licensing, electronic publishing and digital scientific work (research, reference management, data management). Their services are aimed at academics working in Germany as well as students studying American Studies, English Studies / Great Britain and Ireland Studies, Australia and New Zealand Studies and Canada Studies. The AAC Library is also known as the “Specialized Information Service Anglo-American Culture” (FID AAC).

The Library AAC is a cooperation between the Lower Saxony State and University Library in Göttingen and the library of the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies at the Free University of Berlin. The Library AAC is currently financed by the DFG funding line “ Specialized Information Services for Science ”.

activities

  • Acquisition on request: Literature, sources, TV series, comics or other research-relevant material that is not available via interlibrary loan or other document delivery services in Germany can be proposed for acquisition from the Library AAC and will then be made accessible via interlibrary loan.
  • Collection: The AAC Library acquires primary and secondary literature according to its acquisition profile and makes it available nationwide via interlibrary loan.
  • Digitization on request: On request, works in the public domain for scientific purposes will be digitized free of charge for the customer. All digital copies are then freely accessible online. >
  • Licensing: Upon request, the AAC library coordinates the licensing of databases.
  • Electronic publishing: In The Stacks , the specialist repository of the AAC Library, articles, blog articles, reviews, monographs and edited volumes, journals and other periodical publications can be archived in electronic or retro-digitized form; In addition, conference programs, conference reports, books of abstracts, seminar descriptions and syllabi are published and archived.
  • Digital scientific work: The AAC library offers tips on research, reference management and data management. They are published under the CC-BY 4.0 license and can also be used for teaching.
  • Get to know and use the collections: The Göttingen State and University Library and the library of the John F. Kennedy Institute at the Free University of Berlin have extensive collections for American studies, English / British and Irish studies, Australian and New Zealand studies and Canada studies. The AAC Library offers access and research tips to explore and use these collections.
