Libya (mythology)
Libya ( ancient Greek Λιβύα or Λιβύη Libýa, Libýē , Latin Libya ) is a figure in Greek mythology .
She is a daughter of Epaphos and Memphis and thus a granddaughter of Io and is the mother of Belos .
It gave its name to Libya , the ancient name of North Africa between Egypt , Aithiopia and the Atlantic , from which the name of the modern state of Libya is derived again.
