History and activity

The organization was founded in 2003 by Lydia Staltner as the first association in Germany to take care of elderly people in need. The association advocates for senior citizens whose means are insufficient for a life in dignity and social participation. He is involved on two levels: as a helper and as an advocate. As a helper, LichtBlick Seniorenhilfe supports needy seniors financially. Together with donors and partners, the association ensures that those affected can afford a new pair of shoes, a new mattress or food.

As an advocate, LichtBlick Seniorenhilfe gives seniors in need a voice. The association counteracts undesirable social developments to the detriment of old people and creates incentives to get involved in this sense. Applicants must be at least 60 years old and have a German pension notification. The income (pension) and the monthly costs (such as rent, electricity, insurance) are used to calculate whether support can be granted. LichtBlick Seniorenhilfe supports needy seniors until their life situation has improved. If this does not happen, the association will support them for the rest of their lives. Thanks to the sponsorship model, poor pensioners can receive a cash injection of 35 euros each month.

Ambassadors and supporters

The organization is supported by personalities from film and television, politics and business, such as Koch Eckart Witzigmann , Dietrich Grönemeyer and the singing duo Marianne and Michael .
