The Lichtenwalder Moor is a moor area in the municipality of Bad Waltersdorf in Styria .

location

The moor is located southwest of Bad Waltersdorf between Lichtenwald and Hohenbrugg and was declared a nature reserve in 2008.

particularities

Numerous pollen are preserved in the moor, making the moor a valuable archive for vegetation research. Pollen was found from all important forest trees, but also sweet chestnuts , walnut pollen and grain pollen (for example from rye ), which were deposited here during the Latène period , the settlement around 2400 to 2000 years ago.
