Lichtwoche Sauerland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lichtwoche Sauerland is a German trade fair for light and lighting, which is held every two years in a decentralized manner in the Sauerland and is primarily aimed at trade visitors from the lighting trade. Starting from its organizational center in the city of Arnsberg , it will take place regionally in the exhibition rooms of participating companies in the lighting and lighting industry. In just a few years, the Lichtwoche Sauerland has become an important meeting point for well-known manufacturers, dealers, buyers and resellers of lights and lamps, which serves to exchange ideas about new products, innovations and future trends. What is special about this fair, in addition to its atypical, decentralized concept, is its informal development and original organization, which was carried out in cooperation with the companies themselves and with the support of the city of Arnsberg's economic development agency and Stadtmarketing Sundern e. G. was carried out. Since the sixth event in 2013, the non-public fair has been embedded in publicly effective events on the subject of light in order to emphasize the importance of the industry for the region.

Trade fair concept

At the actual fair, companies in the lighting and lighting industry invite their business customers to the respective exhibition rooms to find out about the latest collections and product lines. Companies that are not based in the region can also participate by briefly renting suitable and available properties and thus setting up a temporary showroom. The trade fair concept was developed by actors in the industry themselves and brought into being together with the cities of Arnsberg and Sundern, which are characterized by a high concentration of lighting and lighting companies. At the finish, trade visitors should not only see products, but experience them at the places where they are manufactured or sold. For this reason, lamps, lights and components are not exhibited in an exhibition hall, but presented directly in the respective exhibition areas of the company. A common evening program and an identity-creating marketing strategy serve as the connecting elements of the decentralized trade fair.

development

The Lichtwoche Sauerland has grown from 22 to 45 participating companies from its inception in 2005 to its sixth edition in 2013. Every two years the Lichtwoche Sauerland takes place in the odd years and is, along with Light + Building, the most important trade fair for the lighting trade in Germany. While living room lighting manufacturers (some with an outdoor lighting range) took part in the first Sauerland Light Week, companies that operate in the field of technical lights or lamps have now also joined. In addition to this expansion of the product divisions, the number of exhibitors is constantly increasing, and in 2013 this was expanded to include the Benelux countries and Scandinavia.

Framework program for the public

Due to the economic importance of the regionally concentrated lighting industry, a public exhibition - a so-called "marketplace" - was set up for the first time in 2013, showing a selection of products from participating companies. Integrated into public lectures on the topic of light, the outward-facing representation of the Sauerland as a region of light gained more importance. In 2015 the Lichtwoche Sauerland will expand its program for the public.

organization

After the event was initially carried out by companies in the industry and business-promoting institutions in public-private cooperation, the Lichtforum NRW took on the task of organization for the sixth time. Strategic aspects are worked out here together with the "speakers" of the Sauerland Light Week, with the Light Forum NRW then carrying out the operational activities.

speaker

The "speakers" of the Lichtwoche Sauerland alternately take over the patronage for one event and form the corporate face of the fair. You represent the interests of the participants towards the organizers. The speakers are chosen every two years from among the participants.
