Love for Lydia

Love for Lydia (original title Love for Lydia) is a thirteen-part British television series from London Weekend Television (LWT) from 1977.

The series is based on a semi-autobiographical novel by British author HE Bates , which was first published in 1952 .

In Germany it was broadcast on ARD from November 1978.

The setting is the small town of Eversford in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Lydia, young and fun-loving, does not accept the conventional guidelines for her future life and strives for freedom and adventure. She has several admirers, but none of them understands her need for independence and her fear of being tied to a partner.

The role of Lydia is played by Mel Martin . In addition, u. a. starring: Christopher Blake , Christopher Hancock , Peter Davison , Jeremy Irons , Natasha Parry , Wendy Gifford , Ralph Arliss and Sherrie Hewson .
