The Lightyear One is an all- electric motor vehicle ( electric car ) announced by the Dutch start-up Lightyear , which is to be charged both via the power grid and via solar cells integrated into the body .

history

The founders of Lightyear have been working on the realization of One since 2016 . In the years up to 2019, crowdfunding campaigns raised more than five million euros for implementation.

A functioning prototype has been available since August July, the shape and function of which should already largely resemble the end product. Until the final delivery, the design, equipment and workmanship should be improved.

model

The Lightyear One is a purely electrically powered passenger vehicle which , in addition to being charged via a charging interface, is also charged by the solar modules integrated into the outer skin of the body . The low four-door body offers space for five passengers.

Lightyear uses four electric motors with a total output of 100 kW (136 PS) as drive in the prototype. The Lightyear One is said to have a range of 580 km ( EVDB ). The solar cells should be able to provide a range of up to 20,000 km per year.

Currently (2019) the vehicle can be reserved on the Lightyear website against a deposit.
