Ligne Roset , trading as Roset SA , is a French furniture manufacturer based in Briord in the Ain department .
history
The forerunner of the company was founded by Antoine Roset in Montagnieu in 1860 , later the company headquarters was relocated to nearby Briord. Roset, a forest manager, initially produced umbrella and walking sticks as well as rungs for chairs in his woodworking company. In the post-war period, under the leadership of Jean Roset, a grandson of the founder, the company shifted the focus of production to furniture for public institutions. For example, schools and old people's homes have been equipped with the appropriate furniture. This branch remained a mainstay of the company until the 1960s. Under Jeans' sons, Pierre and Michel, the focus was increasingly on private customers in the late 60s and early 70s. 1973 saw the official entry of the Ligne Roset brand , in the course of which the Togo seating was brought onto the market. From now on, the company's management paid great attention to the design. The interior designer Michel Ducaroy was responsible for the design of the piece of furniture, which is now considered a design icon. Today, Ligne Roset is strongly export-oriented and represented worldwide, with exports accounting for around 70% of total sales.
A branch was founded in Germany for the first time in 1967, and today Ligne Roset is represented by Roset Möbel GmbH based in Gundelfingen near Freiburg im Breisgau .
