The Ligonda is an African sword . African swords were developed and used in different countries and by different ethnic groups in Africa as weapons of war, hunting, culture and class. The respective designation of the weapon refers to a variant of this weapon type that is assigned to a certain ethnic group .

The Ligonda has a broad, ax-shaped blade . The blade widens from the handle and ends in a crescent-shaped place . It has a slight central ridge. The cutting edge is almost continuous from the handle. The handle is made of wood, is polished and has a disc-like knob. The Ligonda is used by the Sengele , Ntomba , Lia and Ngata ethnic groups who live in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo .
