Limeik Topchi (* 1985 in Bulgaria ) is a freelance director , actor and theater educator.

Life

Most recently he studied theater directing at the University of Plovdiv with Prof. Nadezhda Sejkova and Prof. Leonard Kapon and graduated in 2010 with a master's degree. While still a student, Topchi was on stage as an actor and staged several plays. After completing his master's degree, he decided to broaden his horizons as an actor and director and came to Germany at the end of 2011 to study the German theater more intensively.

In 2013, Topchi founded the international independent theater group “Our Theater” in Mannheim / Ludwigshafen, which he has been leading ever since. Since 2014 he has been working as a freelance theater maker in the fields of directing, acting and theater education.

In 2014 he took on the role in the one-person play "Apropos ... The nine circles of hell in Europe" by Bozhidara Angelova, directed by Lisa Massetti.

He had a special theatrical experience with one of the important representatives of the new German directorial theater, Prof. Hansgünther Heyme . As the director of the Theater im Pfalzbau in Ludwigshafen am Rhein at the time, Heyme staged the great work “Gilgamesch-Epos” in 2014, in which Topchi worked as an assistant director and actor.

In 2015 Heyme realized the German-Bulgarian theater project “Der Sturm” by Shakespeare in Mannheim, in which Topchi worked as a director, acting coach and leading actor. This enabled Topchi, in a bilateral exchange, to link the German theater with the Bulgarian theater, to gain new experience as well as to contribute his own ideas and ideas.

The world premiere of the play "Flirt with Death" by Klaus Servene took place under the direction of Topchi in 2016 at the Capitol in Mannheim.

In 2016/2017, theater maker Limeik Topchi staged the timeless drama "Nathan the Wise" by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing in a new version by Klaus Servene. The premiere of the international independent theater group “Our Theater” took place in Mannheim in 2017.

Limeik Topchi made his film directing debut with the film adaptation of the Bulgarian fairy tale “The Golden Girl”. The film was shot in the historic Alte Volksbad in Mannheim. The film celebrated its premiere on October 12, 2018 in the Cinema Quadrat Mannheim with a full house. Further demonstrations took place at various locations such as zeitraumexit and Altes Volksbad.

In 2019, the second film "Heidelberger Stars" was made. Limeik Topchi shot the film in various locations in Mannheim. Birgit Schreiber and Limeik Topchi developed the script based on the fairy tale "The Bremen Town Musicians". The feature film will celebrate its premiere on December 15, 2019 at the Cineplex Mannheim.
