Limnomys is a genus of rodents from the group of old world mice (Murinae). The genus includes two types.

These animals reach a head body length of around 13 centimeters, the tail measures 15 to 16 centimeters. Their dense fur is colored black-brown on the back, the belly is beige. The hind feet are long and slender, the tail is long and hairy.

The animals only live on the Philippines- Island Mindanao . They inhabit higher-lying, moist forests at 2000 to 2800 meters above sea level. Otherwise nothing is known about their way of life.

There are two kinds:

Neither species is endangered according to the IUCN . The genus is systematically classified in the Rattus group , so it is closely related to rats .
