Limuru is a city in central Kenya that is approx. Located 50 km northwest of Nairobi . Currently, approx. 5000 inhabitants.
Limuru is in Kiambu County . It originated in the 1890s when European settlers began to settle here, who appreciated the proximity to Nairobi, the location at the train station and the mild climate of the highlands. Limuru lies at an altitude of approx. 2250 m.
To this day Limuru is famous for its 100 years of tea production.
Limuru is the birthplace of the most famous Kenyan writer, Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o .
