Lind chants
Lind-Gesänge is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 21). The work was created in April / May 1846 and was performed for the first time on May 28 of the same year at a festive soirée in honor of the singer Jenny Lind in the Dommayer in Hietzing .
Emergence
Jenny Lind, the “Swedish Nightingale”, celebrated her debut in Vienna on April 22, 1846, according to a contemporary criticism of the “enthusiastic rallies”. The waltz is announced on May 9, still under the title Lind Enthusiasten . When it was first performed, it was already titled Lind Gesänge .
Remarks
The work is seldom played today because a score is missing or missing. Nevertheless, the voices have been preserved. The playing time is about 9 minutes plus minus a few seconds depending on the musical conception of the respective conductor.
