Linda Stift (born February 26, 1969 in Wagna / Südsteiermark ) is an Austrian author. Since studying German, philosophy and Slavic studies, she has lived as a freelance writer in Vienna.

In 1998 she began to work as a freelance editor for fiction (including at Deuticke Verlag) and magazine publishers. Also in 1998 her very first public appearance as a writer took place in the lifestyle magazine Wienerin as part of a writing competition, which she won.

Soon after, a contribution from her appeared in an anthology by Milena Verlag. Further publications in literary magazines such as Sterz and Kolik followed . In addition, Linda Stift wrote a number of articles for the features of various daily newspapers, especially book reviews and travel articles. She has already received numerous prizes and grants for her work. In 1999 she was, alongside Martina Schmidt, the co-editor of “Christmas for advanced students”.

Her first novel "Kingpeng" was published in 2005. "Stierhunger" followed in 2007.

Linda Stift was nominated for the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize 2009.

The author Andrea Stift-Laube is her cousin.
