The linden tree on the Geißlesberg stands about two kilometers north of Hammelburg in the Bad Kissingen district in the Bavarian Rhön and is a natural monument . The road from Hammelburg to the Seeshof district leads past about 70 meters to the west. The summer lime tree ( Tilia platyphyllos ) stands about 215 meters above sea ​​level on a small sloping meadow between two field paths in the narrow valley of the Rechbach.

The linden tree has been listed as a natural monument by the Lower Nature Conservation Authority of the Bad Kissingen district since March 2, 1987 with the number 672-N / 043 , the name Linde am Geißlesberg and the note Markante Flurlinde . The age of the linden tree that belongs to the community was given in 1980 to be around 250 years.

The linden tree is in good condition with only a small amount of dead wood in the crown. The base of the trunk shows stick rashes and is full of wood. At a height of about four meters, the trunk divides into two strong, steeply rising axes. The strong branches of the linden tree are held together by several steel cables. The tree has a tall crown with a diameter of about 21 and a height of 30 meters. In 2011, the trunk had a circumference of 5.93 at the point of its smallest diameter (waist) and 6.48 meters at a height of one meter. In 1992 it had a circumference of 5.62 meters at the point of its smallest diameter. In 2011, the trunk had a circumference of 1.3 meters, the so-called breast height diameter (BHD), a circumference of 6.10 meters.
