Map of Bouvet Island with the Lindsayskjeret (right) |
Lindsayskjeret is a rocky reef off the east side of Bouvet Island in the South Atlantic . It is located 400 m north-northeast of Cape Meteor .
The first mapping was made in 1898 by participants in the Valdivia expedition (1898–1899) under the direction of the German zoologist Carl Chun . Another mapping was carried out in December 1927 during the Norvegia research voyage under Captain Harald Horntvedt (1879-1946). Hornvedt named the reef after the British whaler James Lindsay who, together with his counterpart Thomas Hopper, rediscovered Bouvet Island on October 6, 1808.
