Line transmitter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A linjesender was a long wave - radio station less power, which used a power line as a transmission antenna and Norway was widespread.

Since in Norway, due to the mountainous topography, many power lines often cross valleys at considerable heights and thus show good radiation behavior for long-wave signals, this use was ideal for this.

The Linjesender was one of the few applications that specifically exploited the mostly disruptive radiation from PLC systems . Linjesender used transmission powers between 250 watts and 2000 watts.

In the age of VHF broadcasting, Linjesender lost its importance. The last such transmitter was shut down in 1987 .
