Painter of Berlin 2457
The painter from Berlin 2457 (active around 430-420 BC) was a Greek vase painter of the red-figure style. Him, two white-ground lekythoi depicting a grave scene in Berlin antiquities collection assigned: The eponymous lecythus F 2457 and the Lekythos F 2458. Another befindlicher also in Berlin lecythus, F 2465, also with a grave scene, it is stylistically very close, was but surely painted by a copycat. The painter from Berlin 2457 was probably active in the circle of the woman painter , whose ornaments are very similar; In his coloring and the emotions of the figures, however, the painter from Berlin 2457 does not come close to this.
