Irma Wehgartner

Irma Wehgartner (* 1943 in Weiden in the Upper Palatinate ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Irma Wehgartner studied Classical Archeology, Pre- and Early History and Ancient History in Würzburg and Munich. It was made in 1980 with the work Attisch white-ground ceramics. Painting techniques, workshops, forms, use by Erika Simon at the University of Würzburg , which is still one of the fundamental works on this topic today. She then worked on volume 51, Würzburg 3 of the Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum Germany, in which the Etruscan ceramics were presented to the antique collection of the Martin von Wagner Museum . From the mid-1980s to 1993 Wehgartner was employed at the Antikensammlung Berlin . During this time she worked on another volume of the Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum with Volume 62, Berlin 8. She also organized the large exhibition “The Etruscans and Europe” as well as the exhibition “ Euphronios , the painter” and the associated symposium. From 1993 until her retirement in 2012 she was the curator of the Martin von Wagner Museum in Würzburg . Wehgartner does research in particular on ancient ceramics and vase painting , but also on glass art and sculpture from ancient times .
