A Winckelmannsprogramm is an archaeological publication published in honor of the German archaeologist , librarian , antiquarian and art writer of the early Enlightenment, Johann Joachim Winckelmann (1717–1768).
The tradition of the Winckelmann programs, which often go back to lectures on the occasion of Winckelmann's birthday, was founded in Berlin . Inspired by this, similar series of publications emerged in Marburg , Halle , Leipzig and most recently in Trier .
