Linnanmäki ( Swedish Borgbacken ) is an amusement park in Helsinki . The park, whose name means something like castle hill , is also colloquially called Lintsi and is located on a hill in the Alppiharju district, which is quite close to the city center . The park, which opened on May 27, 1950, is run by the children’s aid organization Klassen Päivän Säätiö , a charity that was formed in 1956 from initially six founding organizations.
Linnanmäki is open from April to September. There is no entry fee; For the rides you have to purchase single tickets or wristbands that function as day tickets.
In August 2006, the park welcomed its 50 millionth visitor; well over a million people enter the park every year.
Attractions
There are around 40 rides of various sizes in Linnanmäki. The best known is the wooden roller coaster Vuoristorata , which was built in 1951 . Other attractions include the Raketti free-fall tower , the Rinkeli ferris wheel with a sauna cabin, the Top Spin Kieputin and the Kirnu roller coaster, which opened in 2007 .
Premier Rides' Vonkaputous Watercoaster has been removed and replaced with a Launch Coaster from Intamin Rides called Taiga for the 2019 season .
Affiliated to the park are the Sea Life Aquarium and the Peacock Teatteri , in which musicals are shown.
