LinuxUser is a German computer magazine for Linux users from the Computec Media publishing house , which also publishes the Linux magazine . It has been published since January 2000 - initially as a special issue, and since June 2000 regularly. LinuxUser is mainly concerned with the practical use of Linux and, in contrast to the Linux magazine, is primarily aimed at end users.
Frequency of publication
The magazine appears on the third Thursday of every month. A special issue with special topics such as network, security or hardware is published quarterly.
Editor-in-chief
The editor-in-chief was Hans-Georg Eßer until October 2004, Jörg Luther is his successor.
Content
The magazine primarily deals with software that is relevant for traditional home users. The spectrum ranges from the full-blown office suite to the small console program. Each issue has a thematic focus that covers up to a quarter of the issue. In addition, the articles can be found in categories such as Practice, In the Test, Know-how or Network & System, which at the same time gives the reader an orientation with regard to the orientation of the article.
Additions
Free software is mainly used in the production of LinuxUser editions . The booklet CD is mastered and burned with mkisofs / cdrecord . Only for the layout come with Adobe InDesign on Mac OS X proprietary components are used.
