Lip bumper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A lip bumper is an orthodontic appliance - either fixed or removable - for extending the length of the arch or straightening the molars .

This is a wire bow in the form of a U . Its ends are pushed into the tubes of the first and second molars. Its front part lies a few millimeters in front of the alveolar processes of the front teeth .

A distal movement is achieved by a transfer of forces from the soft tissues of the molars.
