Lipid electrophoresis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The lipid electrophoresis is the electrophoretic separation of lipoproteins .

It is the classification of hyperlipoproteinemia according to Fredrickson basis and is still often applied laboratory examination of the blood. Lipid metabolism centers, in particular, do not do without lipid electrophoresis, as it is an inexpensive basic examination for patients with hyperlipidemia .

Lipid electrophoresis is a sensitive test for the detection of chylomicrons . After centrifugation at approx. 13,000 rpm, electrophoresis is carried out in which the chylomicrons remain on the application site due to their high proportion of electrically uncharged neutral fats and their size.
