Liquid is the third album by the Dutch space rock band 35007 . It was released in 2002.
History of origin
After the release of the second album "35007" in 1997, singer Eeouwout Baart and drummer Jacco van Rooy announced that they were leaving the band. As the successor to van Rooy, Sander Evers became a member of 35007. Since there was no longer a singer available, the remaining trio changed their musical style to instrumental space rock. The first release with this line-up, the 2001 EP "Sea Of Tranquility EP", was followed in 2002 by the album "Liquid".
Style and reception
The four pieces on the album, from 5:53 to 13:24 minutes in length, do not follow a uniform style of music. In addition to stoner rock and space rock elements, an ambient atmosphere is built up in the final minutes of the last piece, Voyage Automatique .
Most of the critics were enthusiastic about the turn to instrumental music; for example Eduardo Rivadavia wrote:
" Liquid is a great achievement in ambient rock and a recommended entry into [the band] 35007 as well as the genre as a whole."
Allmusic awarded 4.5 out of 5 points.
