Lise Billon

Lise Billon (* 1988 in Romans-sur-Isère , France ) is a French mountaineer who mainly climbs mixed routes .

In December 2012, Billion climbed the Pillar del Sol Naciente (7b, A1, WI6, M6, 1000 m) on the southeastern ridge of Cerro Murallón in Patagonia for the first time with their compatriots François Poncet, Jérémy Stagnetto, Jérôme Sullivan and the Spaniard Pedro Diaz. The American-Argentine mountaineer and proven Patagonia expert Rolando Garibotti described the striking mountain line as the most beautiful in all of Patagonia.

In 2014 the first ascent of Pyramid Peak , southwest of Denali National Park and east of Revelation Glacier , was successful . Billon, Diaz, Stagnetto and Sullivan opened The Odyssey (M7, 6b, A1, 90 °, 1100 Hm) and The Iliad (TD + 900 Hm) on the sub-peak Mount Boucansaud in April.

Billon, Sullivan, the French Antoine Moineville and the Argentine Diego Simari managed to climb Cerro Riso Patrón Central , Patagonia over the east face and the opened Hasta las Wuebas route (ED-, WI5, M5, 90 °, 1000 m ascent) in September . For this achievement, the rope team received the Piolet d'Or in 2016 . In October 2015 she opened the route Balas y Chocolate (ED +, 900 m ascent) on the south face of Cerro Adela Norte , Patagonia together with Sullivan and the Spaniards Santiago Padros and Dani Ascaso.

Billon lives with her partner, the American-French mountaineer Jérôme Sullivan in Chamonix , where she is training to be a mountain guide. She was named to the jury of the UK- based charity GRIT & ROCK , alongside Lydia Bradey , Catherine Destivelle and Victor Saunders , of the GRIT & ROCK First Ascent Expedition Award , to be presented for the first time in February 2017 .
