The tower was added in 1768 and there were other changes inside. A north gallery was built in and the windows enlarged. In 1820 the tower received its dome on flat gables.

In 1964 the smithy had to give way due to a local modernization. The faithful replica houses the Bördemuseum and shows rural and handicraft exhibits as well as a variety of real Geest peasant costumes.
