In the center of Leichlignen and about 100 m north of Leysiefen, on the edge of the Wupperniederung, in the N slope, there is a castle, the so-called "Zoppesmur". The facility consists of a roughly square hill cut from the slope by ditches in the north and east, with a side length of approx. 65 m at the base and 40 m at the plateau. The plateau is not artificially elevated, lies in the N 9 m above the trench sole, and is surrounded by a mighty wall. Inside the foundation walls of a square tower with a side length of 8 m and a wall thickness of 1.2 m. The plateau is surrounded by a ditch up to 20 m wide in the north, which also has a rampart there. The crown of the wall is 3.5 m above the bottom of the trench. According to the evidence of the broken fragments, the castle was built in the 12th century. The first written mention of it comes from the year 1280.
