Coat of arms of the city of Arnstein

The honorary citizenship is the highest municipal award of the Lower Franconian town of Arnstein . With the honor, apart from the appropriate honors, no financial benefits are usual. All that is known is the assumption of costs for the funeral of Pastor Albin Screw from Schwebenried in 1991.

In 1933, President Paul von Hindenburg and Chancellor Adolf Hitler were made honorary citizens. Both honorary citizenships no longer appeared on the lists after the Second World War. When a citizen from Binsbach came across a slide with Hitler's letter of thanks in the local archive in 1995, he asked Mayor Roland Metz for information. The Arnstein city council then decided on June 19, 1995 that in all cases in which the honorary citizenship of Adolf Hitler had not yet been revoked, it would be revoked. Paul von Hindenburg's honorary citizenship was not officially revoked, but he is not included in the lists.

So far, 13 people have been made honorary citizens. Another 18 or so honorary citizenships were awarded in the districts before their incorporation

Note: The listing is done chronologically according to the date of award.
